UFood Grill, which bought the UFood fast-casual restaurant brand out of bankruptcy, is negotiating what UFood Grill’s CEO said is a deal to open its first Massachusetts location outside Logan Airport.

UFood Grill’s menu includes some of the fast-casual items from the old UFood Restaurant Group locations and also includes a “build-your-own menu,” Sal Rincione, CEO of UFood Grill, said in an interview. There are UBowls, which include rice and shrimp, chicken or beef. There also are breakfast wraps and panini from the old menu.

“The food was good with the old UFoods. Our food is excellent now,” said Rincione, who also is a vice president of Healthy Acquisitions, which bought assets of UFood Restaurant Group in bankruptcy proceedings.

Both companies are based in Burlington, Massachusetts.

While the new company is preserving the UFood name, it has a new logo. Its restaurants have been redesigned. They’ll average about 1,800 square feet, UFood stated in a news release.

If negotiations underway come to fruition, the Boston-area UFood Grill will be announced this fall and open next year, Rincione said. He declined to name the potential franchisee.

In additions to locations in Logan terminals B and C, the company has a dozen restaurants across the country.
